Koldbrann: Norwegian Black Metal Purveyors
Koldbrann, formed in 2001 in Drammen, Norway, is a fierce representative of the raw, unfiltered spirit of black metal. Their name, meaning “gangrene” in Norwegian, reflects the band’s grim aesthetic and their cold, abrasive sound. Rooted in the second wave of Norwegian black metal, Koldbrann channels dark atmospheres, relentless aggression, and a misanthropic ethos.
The band’s debut album, Nekrotisk Inkvisition (2003), set the tone for their uncompromising approach, while later works like Vertigo (2013) introduced more experimental elements without abandoning their raw core. Known for their intense live performances, Koldbrann remains a potent force in black metal’s underground.
